PPP actions & impacts
The Bamenda City Council has PPP plans for three Modern Commodity Markets, worth about CFA 20 million (about $40 million):
Phase I, worth about CFA five billion ($10 million): A new Bamenda Food Market on an area of approximately 12,083 square meters, comprising an underground parking lot (S -1); a food market (street level); between 700 to 1,000 sheds (2nd and 3rd floors).
Phase II, worth about CFA 10 billion ($20 million): The Bamenda Commodity Market, on a surface area of approximately 17,557 square meters, comprising an underground parking lot (S -1); grade parking (level 1); shopping centre with about 2,000 to 3,000 16m² sheds on two to three levels; a possible additional structured parking at the upper level (level 2); office spaces/business centres on level 4; and a conference/multi-media centre on level 5.
Phase III: A completely new market - the Nkwen Market - to replace the existing one, worth about CFA five billion (about $6 million).
