To impact on lives through sustainable development for common good, the Bamenda City Council depends on its long-term strategic planning and execution through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), since our annual budget is only about CFA three billion (about $7 million).
Actions: Income-generating ventures
We have completed feasibility studies for the following PPP ventures:
An Ultra-Modern, Multi-Purpose Bus Station, worth over CFA five billion (about $10 million): Bamenda is the gate way to the North West Region of Cameroon, and once the on-going Bamenda-Enugu express highway is completed, Bamenda shall be open to a West African market of close to 300 million people.
The creation of an Ultra-Modern, Multi-Purpose Bus Station shall go a long way to provide a lasting solution to the problem of traffic circulation within the city, and shall serve four Regions of Cameroon directly: the West, Centre, Littoral and South West Regions, and Nigeria.
This PPP venture is expected to generate an average of about CFA 5 million (about $10,000) net daily benefit for the City Council, up from the current CFA 1.5 million (about $3,000) net daily gain.
