Churches in Bamenda Cityin City Council Blog
The proliferation of churches in Cameroon has not spared Bamenda. However besides the Pentecostal Churches or sects there are the main stream Churches. The main stream Churches that exist in Bamenda are the Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Anglican, Evangelical and The Seventh Day Adventist. Churches especially the new churches have made Churches, a money making venture. This has eroded the value and respect for the clergy and for the Church. The Churches were supposed to be the mirror of a perfect society. However they have failed to be that light that shines in a dark tunnel, instead they are most often the centre of the controversies that have wrapped the Church in recent times.
However there is no tension and anxiety as far as Churches operate. Some of the Churches have even gone into Inter-Church co-operation, such as the ecumenical services that are aimed at unifying the Fragmented Christendom.
Churchianity instead is in the rise rather than Christianity. People rather prefer going to Church as a way to show off than a place of worship and for worship and adoration. Churches have become places where people go to show their fabrics and fashion than going to worship their God and Creator.
